Who’s A Tricky Dicky?? – Evening Hardwood June 12

I am personally shocked and mortified that Dick Bavetta might be the next ref implicated in this whole scandal mess. Anyone who has watched a game on television or had the good fortune to see live with Bavetta on the court has been entertained and, in my opinion, treated to some great officiating. He is one of the few officials I’ve seen step in and actually cool situations down. If something does get traced back to him, I think we as fans and the league executive need to really step back and look at this whole thing and quick. Stern, not surprisingly, came out before tonights game and said that Donaghy was full of lies and hate.

Canada Basketball added some familiar names to their board today. Bryan Colangelo and Tom Anselmi from MLSE made it on, but by far the biggest Canadian basketball-related addition is Ron Foxcroft. He officiated in the NCAA and FIFA, as well as the Olympics, and has long been regarded as one of the top refs in the world. He’s a great guy and a strong ambassador for basketball in Canada.

Speaking of which, here is the video showing off the men’s team. Quite good.

While the Canadian team doesn’t have high profile players battling it out for every spot, Team USA does. Here is a breakdown of the battles and, yes, our own Chris Bosh does make the final cut in this scenario.

Finally, never let it be said that the Nets don’t try to fill up that cesspool of an arena of theirs….If you sign up for Nets season tickets, they will give you 10% of your total ticket price in the form of gas cards. That’s smart marketing.

  1. you know scott, i honestly don’t care about this officiating scandal. i’ve always watched ball (sports in general) that the officiating is fixed. it clearly isn’t one ref, there are definitely more out there who were able to hide better. bevetta is a great ref, but he’s been around half a century, there is a big chance his hands aren’t clean.

that is phenomenal thing shaq is doing. if he can help people, and make money, all the power to him…i may have to call him..the hookers and drugs are taking their toll on my bank account.
