That means someone has to go. And it’s probably not going to be Calderon, who had a great season and wasn’t hounded by injuries like Ford has been throughout his career.

Under any other circumstance, the Sixers might explore going after Ford. But they have Miller, who is signed for one more season. Now, if Ford is willing to share the backcourt with Miller for a season, then he could become the guy in 2009-10 and beyond.

The Sixers will be well under the salary cap, so they probably wouldn’t have to give up much to get Ford.

Just a thought.

So will Colangelo keep Mitchell around regardless of the Mike D’Antoni situation?
I think he will and Sam will get one more kick at the can next year, hopefully with some more talent to utilize. But perhaps there’s an even bigger question here; SHOULD Sam Mitchell be the coach of the Toronto Raptors’ to start the 2008-09 season and going forward?
To answer this question, I’ve decided to break things down into a few different categories; progress, leadership capabilities, tactical skills, and market demand.

But here is why we do. For that perfect feeling of winning a championship. The Raptors may not me be close to that right now but hope is a strong thing if you have it. Bryan Colangelo has not given up hope in winning a championship so why should I. After all no one is going to blame me if they don’t. Colangelo is a different matter, he has a off-season that will be very important in the development of this team taking steps toward that Championship moment that we all crave. It is why I write a blog everyday. It is why Bryan Colangelo takes flights to Europe to scout prospects. This is why Sam Mitchell is so emotional. Why Chris Bosh wants fans to cheer. It all is about doing whatever you can to get that feeling of ultimate success.

we can look at all of BC’s teams and see that the second scoring option was not a wing player, but rather a PG. I know you all are going to say Shawn Marion, well I think Marion scored a lot off of fastbreaks and putbacks. He was a 20 ppg. scorer, but not in the traditional sense. This time, a BC-led team may feature a SG as it’s second option.

Chris Bosh could really use some help in the frontcourt, and so far, the talented Bargnani has failed to live up to his No. 1 pick.  Across the board, his numbers dipped in this his sophomore year, as he seemed to be mired in a season-long shooting slump, finishing the year at 38 percent from the field.

While his regular season was a disappointment, Bargnani managed to produce even less in the postseason, as he scored only 6.4 ppg on 33 percent shooting.

  1. Riley will drool over Calderon this summer. He’s been trying to find a PG for two years now and I don’t think he’ll let himself get outbid again (of course, that’s not entirely in his hands but y’know what I mean…)

  2. We’re going to match and sign Jose, and then trade Miami Ford and Rasho for Marion. ;)

  3. Never forget that Bryan Colangelo is the same GM who traded away a young Steve Nash for Martin Muursepp, Bubba Wells, the draft rights to Pat Garrity and a first-round draft pick … and Jason Kidd for Stephon Marbury.
