Raptors Roll Call March 17 vs Jazz

Want to get stuff off your chest? Head over to our forums and talk to the best minds on the ‘net.

Bargnani - Yet again he couldn’t hit the side of a barn. If he was a golfer, he would be using a putter off the tee. Lack of confidence? More like lack of research being made by current management for selection of a #1 pick. He did try and make a comeback in the second half before Eclipse hit him, but regardless, hitting less shots than you have fouls is unacceptable from a starting #1 pick late in his second season.

Baston - The beast was unleashed!!!! Well, for 5 minutes. Didn’t do much, but showed more effort than, say, a #1 pick.

Calderon - Good game from Jose.  16 and 7 against Deron is a pretty good result. Still doing a horrible job fighting over screens and continues to get exposed off the bounch, but his vision and play under duress allow him some room to breathe.

Delfino - Back to his pathetic play. 0-fer from the floor, 1 rebound, 4 fouls. Disgusting display of basketball. Well except for…

Ford - what a whackjob. Seriously. Even if this was my hero Alvin, I’d be suspending him for a game for conduct detrimental. That was worse than a 14 year old. Passion? Bullshit. That’s childishness. You think Parker, Calderon, Rasho, Bosh, etc don’t feel bad about losing? Using that as an excuse is an outrage. You hurt your team when they were (barely) still in it. You want to be pissed? Play better than you have been. Be a TEAM player and don’t just play for TJ. Adjusting to a new role? Pure crap. Be professional.

Graham - perfect from the floor, hitting every shot like the machine he is. Grabbed a board and didn’t commit a foul all game! Oh, he only played 3 minutes.

Humphries - disappointing effort on D.  Could be one of the old going-home stories of playing back where you were once wronged, but not the usual effort from Humph. Did grab 5 boards, but where we needed him in the paint on our end of the floor he failed.

Kapono - second positive game in a row. Blown coverages on his part? Sure. An amazing -25? Sure. But one hell of a bearhug on TJ so the wingnut didn’t get to the ref was the best on-his-man move of the night. 4/6 shooting and hitting his only 3 shows we may have a “new” threat.

Martin - Hey, 2 assists in 3 minutes and you can bet he will be sitting next to TJ on the flight home, earning every dollar of his contract.

Moon - now down to 3 shots in 24 minutes. Eclipse did do a better job on defence. He hauled down 6 boards and hustled like an Irishman to a bar. No blocks, but that was more of an indication of him playing within the game for once.

Nesterovic - Missed a lot of chippies that could have made this game a bit different. I was going to chalk it up to him being run ragged, but he never did look gassed, bless his heart. 13 points, 12 boards….but I kid you not when I say he should have had 20 points easily. Not to mention, if people start to use their eyes when they have the ball, Rasho should really be getting 20-25 shots a night.

Parker - Cut & Paste played well in spurts tonight. Not that he ever really got exposed, but I think the slow start took it’s toll and maybe lulled him to sleep a bit. Still yanked down 7 boards with 11 points, but it wasn’t the usual (of late) Parker-esque performance.

Driving the Bus: Rasho Nesterovic

  1. Dude, how can you not put TJ under the bus? That temper tantrum was so embarrassing I don’t know where to start. He burnt the fourth quarter all on his own by torching the team mood.

Thank God Jason Kapono has kids and must be used to dealing with emotional outbursts from little people unable to control themselves.

  2. It was a tough call for both Driver and Roadkill.

Rasho missed chippies and should be whipped.
Kapono played well, but gave up a whack of point defensively.

Carlos just plain sucked the whole game.
TJ was fairly good in the first half, but went nutjob and cost us a few points in the second.

Was TJ responsible for us losing the game? Tough to say. He gave them 2 Ts, and probably gave up 10-14pts off of bad play. Carlos, on the other hand, dogged the entire game.

Love the Kapono/kids line. Well played!

  3. If BC is good at his job and the jury is still out , major changes are coming. They need to showcase the few players they have to generate interest around the league. It’s all about stats and potential. That said at least they have a draft pick this year. Next year they are dumping half the team at the trading deadline and likely will be a lottery team. Sadly the odds of Bosh being around to see the end of the project are dropping by the minute.
