Can anyone explain why the Raptors got to inbound the ball at midcourt after the ball went out of bounds behind their basket around :50seconds left in the 4th in the Boston game? I thought they would have to inbound the ball in their end after the timeout. I thought you could only advance the ball after a score? Also love (achem) how Mitchell got his troops to sit down on the bench during the last Boston possession. No need to show team spirit.
Rarely will you see or hear me talk about the Leafs with a straight face, but I have to here, just to honour the memory of the real Mayor Tommy, not the hack who is imitating him in the newsgroup right now. Watching Richard Peddie mouth every word that Cliff Fletcher says early on in the press conference is just…scary. The signing of Maceo Baston makes some sense now.
Did you catch that Nets/Warriors game last night? Bet you enjoyed the Vince hate, didn’t ya? Just to make it even, there is a lot of Jason Kidd hate going on lately. I’m still not sure you can accuse a triple double threat that he is not giving his all. Well, unless he plays in Toronto and the media tells you to hate him and you are lemming sports fans. Remember a while back I floated the idea, and an article, wondering why they don’t play an outdoor game in basketball as they do hockey? Well, the Phoenix Suns will probably play a preseason game out in the wild next season.

I kind of like the under-hand free throws. Could you imagine seeing guys like Shaq/Ben Wallace and Iverson/Ricky Davis shooting like that?
It looks as if only the really odd players should be doing that… ala Joakim Noah.

Spudz, it’s been asked before why they won’t shoot it underhanded (usually when these guys hit a new city). I think Ben Wallace and Shaq have both addressed it before and said it looked dumb.
The funny thing is, really bad free throw shooters like those guys, Rodman, etc, all look like they want nothing so much as to jack the shot and get the hell out of there — like for once in their lives they can’t stand the spotlight. I suspect that’s why their bad shooting has become even worse as they’ve gotten older (I guess Wallace has been the most consistently bad, but Shaq and Rodman both went in the toilet after age 30. Hard to believe that Rodman was shooting in the mid 60%s for several seasons before then.)
