It’s December 18th & Scott’s Saying…

Nice to see Kobe is finally heading to Chicago. Too bad it’s in a Laker uniform. You have to admire the Bulls fans, though. Like Knicks fans, they live and breathe with their team. Say what you want about Kobe as well, coming into the season he was hating on where he was, but individually, bloggers rank him 4th in the MVP race.

Speaking of the Knicks, Thomas has finally alluded to the fact that changes may be coming. Guess he isn’t a sunt after all. Bobby Knight would be proud.

Wonder if the Raptor fans who bothered showing up on Sunday are still feeling the pain? I think you can finally say that the Celts are the true class of the east. Once again, their defence is what deserves the credit. Many wondered how these guys would share the ball, but I guess they never considered how often they could STOP the ball. As far as the Raptors go, when self-admitted non-basketball minds start calling the coach out, you might have to start looking internally as to what’s up. Oh, and those Sunday games that the Raptors love so much? You’ll never see them play on a Sunday in Utah. Of course this fact makes it so that the Jazz play more back to backs than any other team in the league.

Bill Simmons has his list of players with the most trade value. One Raptor, Jose, gets an honourable mention with Simmons looking at his recent starting spot making Jose "a summer free-agent target for anyone who wants to emulate Phoenix’s run-and-gun offense. It also opens the door for a very logical question: Why the hell was Jose Calderon backing up T.J. Ford???". Bosh actually makes the list in the #18 slot and Simmons whips out some humour in doing so.

Elsewhere on that same site, looking at the rookie PER numbers, Noah is ranked #1. Jamario Moon? #12.

The recent moves by Charlotte has some taking a closer look at other moves the team has made, namely the J-Rich move. Scobes and I were at the ‘Cats game in Toronto and he was all over it as well. Great minds. Speaking of the Bobcats, Michael Jordan hit the practice floor with them today.

One of Jordan’s good buddies, Charles Oakley was a master at drawing charges flopping. I’ve never been a fan of it, nor does it seem the author of this article is. Maybe if a guy flops badly he should be called for a foul. Just saying.

Oh…and Oak?  Arrested today on impaired driving. Seems the Raptors Alumni dinner may have to take place in a prison.

w00t.

  1. Funny mugshot. Those cameras adjust upward, but you can tell it went to the highest point and still had to point upward to get Chas in the frame. Great shot of his nostrils.

  2. I would like to see a Raptors commercial of players flopping in real life, like a Delfino or a Calderon walking into the subway and then flopping after getting bumped by someone else. That’d be pretty funny.

  3. I love these blogs. You have a knack for this stuff. If I wrote for a Toronto Newspaper…I would steal ur material :)

  4. Where was Oakley driving from in ATL? I’d bet 20 bucks he was the Gold Club.

  5. People confuse Calderon with a run ‘n gun type PG which he’s not. He practically pulls back every time there’s a 2 on 3 or a 3 on 4 break. I don’t think he’s right right fit for teams looking to play PHX style basketball because PHX runs the break and we simply don’t.

  6. Completely agree. He is a great halfcourt guard who can attack the hoop, but to go up and down in transition would take away from his game. Not to mention the horror of seeing him play transition D. (shudder)

  7. Okay, I’ll take that bet. The Gold Club was shut down like 10 years ago. When the words “money laundering”, “prostitution” and “Gambino” appear in a court filing, the Feds usually don’t let them continue to operate.
