It’s December 15th and Scott’s Saying….
…first OJ and now this. Former Toronto Raptor Keon Clark has been rewarded a new sentencing hearing. Some drivel about not having representation at the first hearing. He does let go a shocker, though: HE NEVER PLAYED A GAME SOBER. He actually drank during games at halftime. Incredible. What a loser. Weed…booze…fornicating with Carlton the Bear…The guy had the wing span of a jet and wasted it. I hope he enjoys the loving arms of Bubba when he starts serving.
I wonder if the wingnut was in Atlanta today? Sheldon Williams was carjacked at gunpoint. Sweet. I’m beginning to think walking down Jane Street in Toronto wearing a KKK getup is probably safer than being an NBA player.
Incredible to read that the Nazr trade was just initiated at 3pm yesterday. Nothing started before then. You can imagine Joe Dumars must have put the phone down for a second, laughed, picked it back up and said “sure!”. Some bloggers are upset at losing Herrmann for little return. Can’t say I disagree. I mean, it’s not often you get a Fabio clone playing for your team.
It’s the holiday season, so it’s great to see that Kobe is happy. That being said, Jason Kidd must be a bit more upset than he was on October 10th. He has a pretty long history now with messing up with women and you have to wonder where is handlers are.
Moving on to some Raptor bites: the fallout from the TJ incident and lack of back up of teammates continues here and in a well done fashion. Not surprisingly, it says here that Jose Calderon is the best bargain in the NBA, being 10th in assists and first overall in assist/turnover ratio. $2.5 million this year…wonder what he will ask for next year? Dell Curry has been gone for years, but Jason Kapono has taken his place. Great video and another well aimed shot at Cluck Jerksky over here.

That Jason Kidd story is a class case of Gold Digger but as Charles Barkley said, “nothing good happens at 3AM”.

Just a sidenote here… love your posting/site, Arsenalist. Nice to see you’ve signed up for the forums here. It’s a great place for intelligent Raptors discussion.
Scott, I just cannot see why the Bobcats make this trade. Hats off to Dumars to making a pitch that sounded enticing (it would have to be to unload Nazr’s bad deal). Wonder if BC made any calls about Hermann?
I won’t even touch the Jason Kidd thing… my hatred for him is well documented.

You and I are together on that one. If media reports are to be believed, he did inquire earlier in the calendar year. Also, it was well known the ‘Cats were asking around after the Varejao deal went belly-up. Of course, one has to wonder if Rasho is as attractive as Nazr. Yes, he has only one year left, but I’m not sure that he fits into the Bobcats style. Plus, as pointed out in the forums, Jordan has an attachment to Nazr.
Sigh…remember when WE wanted Nazr?

Pretty soon, the NBA will run out of guys whose career in some way intersected with Jordan’s.
And then he’ll hire them all as coaches.
Nazr’s contract will never be seen as a bargain, but as sad as it is, it’s got to be acknowledged that this is the price of a mediocre NBA center. If they traded for Nesterovic, and Nesterovic averaged, say, 8 points and 8 rebounds, what kind of offers would he get? I strongly believe they’d be closer to the deal he’s finishing now than the NBA minimum. Ask Joe Przybilla.
I still don’t see how they’re supposed to score with Okafor at the 4 and Nazr at the 5. Jordan’s creating the Bizarro Bulls. He’s got the discount Jordan and BJ in the backcourt (Richardson and Felton); the athletic SF (Wallace/Pippen), the journeyman C (Nazr/Luc Longley) and the PF who gobbles up rebounds but with limited offensive moves (Okafor/Horace Grant). All he needs to do is lure Doug Collins away from the broadcast booth to coach them… but that’d be silly!
