Toronto shoots up Pacers’ fast start | IndyStar.com
“In the second half they came out more determined,” Pacers point guard Jamaal Tinsley said. “They outplayed us. I don’t know what it is. I’ve been here for seven years and it seems like the same thing. It’s frustrating when you go and play for one half and in the second half you lay an egg. We have to get it together someway, some how. It gets tiring hearing the same old thing.”
The Raptors made the Pacers pay for mistakes, whether it was off an offensive rebound or a blown defensive assignment, by making open 3-pointers. Toronto went 12-of-23 from long distance.
“They made some unbelievable shots,” Pacers coach Jim O’Brien said. “They are a great shooting team. That’s why they are second in the league in 3-point accuracy.”
As the Raptors were making their perimeter shots, the Pacers continued to show why some are scratching their head about their desire to be a 3-point shooting team.
Led by Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy’s combined 2-of-11 3-point shooting, the Pacers were 10-of-29 from behind the 3-point line.
“There was one person in our starting lineup that made 3’s, and that was Jamaal Tinsley,” O’Brien said. “When you have a post-up player like Jermaine and the ball goes into him and he passes it back, you have to make shots from the outside. . . . God knows we had enough open looks.”
