Dismal Raptors can’t catch Utah
http://www.thestar.com/Sports/article/276670Ford, who had been outplayed by Utah’s Deron Williams for most of the night, got Toronto within one with a clutch three-pointer before two Williams foul shots restored the three-point lead with 17 seconds left.
The Raptors, eschewing a timeout, could only get a wild Ford three-point attempt with 4.5 seconds left that never had a chance.
Ford finished with 13 points and eight assists but Williams got the Raptors for 22 and won the point guard battle, especially considering Toronto’s Jose Calderon had only six points and no assists in 16 minutes.
Bargnani?
It’s hard to imagine him worse, even in the infancy of his career. He missed 10 jump shots and the only basket he had in 16 minutes came on a putback of an offensive rebound. His two points were reminiscent of his rookie season rather than indicative of someone who could be starting on an NBA team.
Bosh redeemed himself a bit with a big fourth quarter, giving him 14 points and seven rebounds but it wasn’t nearly enough.
