Anderson, who graduated from Fordham in 2006 and played a year overseas in Poland, is used to playing against top-flight competition.
He played a key role for the Canadian senior men’s team at the Pan-American Games in Brazil this past summer, averaging 30.3 minutes and 11.4 points per game while matching up with NBA players such as Carlos Arroyo, Chauncey Billups and Jason Kidd.
The six-foot-one guard also played for Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell on the Raps’ summer league team in Vegas.
“I must have played about 30 games in six weeks (this summer), but it was a good time,” Anderson said.
“I’ve played in a lot of different situations, especially internationally, and I’ve had a chance to travel the world. So hopefully I can bring that leadership to this team.”
The graduate of Toronto’s famed basketball factory Eastern Commerce said it was a personal connection with Rainmen owner Andre Levingston, whom he’s known since he was in Grade 10, that drew him to Halifax.
