Eight-time all-star guard Vince Carter sprained his right ankle late in the third quarter of the Nets’ game against the Celtics last night.

Carter drove the lane for a big slam dunk with 1:23 to play. His left foot came down but his right foot rolled after landing on the foot of Celtics forward Paul Pierce. Carter lay on the court for a couple of minutes before slowing going straight to the Nets locker room.

“We’ll see what happens,” said Carter, who was wearing a nearly knee-high boot on his right foot after the game. “I’ll see how it feels (today) and we’ll go from there.”

I don’t want to put a timetable on it.”
