The Toronto Raptors exercised their fourth-year contract option on Joey Graham on Monday, keeping the forward with the team through the 2008-09 season.
The 25-year-old Graham, who is scheduled to make nearly $1.6 million this season, will earn $2.45 million in 2008-09.
Wow, I’m speechless.

I guess the question would be, how is Joey’s production, at that salary level, compared to the average NBA player’s? Mitchell mentioned in his post practice interview yesterday that Joey averaged 16 and 8 in the last 16 games of the season, after Garbo went down. Subtract bad defense, and those are decent numbers.

Unless he had a horrible swoon in April, those numbers can’t be accurate:

12 points, 3 rebounds, 1.4 assists in 8 games in April. Someone more mathematically inclined can figure it out, but he would have had to have averaged like 25 and 15 in the last 8 games in March to average out at 16/8 over the last 16.
