Mighty Mouse still flying with Memphis

“You know what’s crazy, if I had a regret – and I was on, to me, better teams in Portland – but when I look back on the Toronto situation, it seems like the only thing they were missing when they were making their (2000, 2001) runs … (was a) point guard. It would have been something to be there,” he said.
Stoudamire still sees some of his old Toronto buddies, mostly front-office personnel such as Thomas and scout Walker D. Russell. He’s the only player from that first-year team still active in the league.
As for former teammates, he said, “I did see Carlos Rogers in Houston, I saw Shawn Respert a couple of times, but that’s it.”
Every conversation includes a recollection of that first night of the 1995-96 season.
“In the dome, sold out, New Jersey, first win. I remember it like it was yesterday,” he said.

Ah, the memories. I’m glad that he looks back on his tenure with us as a positive one… maybe he regrets the trade request.
I don’t have bad feelings about the way Damon left, oddly enough. I had the distinct impression he was young, not very sophisticated, and confused about what was going to happen.
