He is not impressed with scoring totals because everyone can score; he wants grit and all those other intangibles and he plans to use almost the entire pre-season to figure out who can give him what he needs.
“Sometimes you guys think a guy played great and I go look at the film and I thought he played bad,” Mitchell said. “I’m looking at where is he on defence – is he boxing out, is he going to the boards, is he making the next pass?”
The one thing that’s become apparent this early is that the Raptors don’t necessarily need their small forward to be an offensive force. That’s why Mitchell is giving careful consideration to a job many thought would be Kapono’s to lose.
